Almost eight weeks after we began this journey, our two Vegas Makeover candidates, Alan Stock and Heidi Harris -- co-hosts for the morning show at KXNT-AM 840 -- have finally come to the end of one road: drabby dressers and the beginning of another: informed fashionistas. The final reveal began at Las Vegas' Diva Studio, a full service salon voted "Best in the West" by Glamour magazine, and ended with Alan and Heidi modeling splendid wardrobe items from Neiman Marcus at Fashion Show mall.

"Stockarooni, getting a haircut!"

Heidi's small observation was probably the most profound statement of the day, especially since Alan "Stockarooni" Stock, fought this particular aspect of his makeover every step of the way.

We pleaded, we cajoled, we calmly explained that it would not be a real transformation without the haircut (Alan bent a little, but held his ground). Finally, we sent the no-nonsense Heidi in to talk some sense into the man: He broke.

Below, an abbreviated account of the day's assorted events, and its final outcome.

9:30 A.M.

Alan arrives at Diva Studio and announces straightaway, what services (as he sees it) he'll be getting: a beard color to blend his gray. He further states that since he won't be getting a haircut, he shouldn't be in the salon that long. He is not immediately reprimanded, though a mental note is made: Persuasive powers will be put to the test this day.

Alan is briefly seated in the chair of nail designer Jennifer Favela for his manicure. He divulges he never thought he'd get a manicure until wife, Rhoda, gifted him one as a birthday present. He now services his hands every two weeks.

As Jennifer finishes up the manicure she asks him: "Do you like your buff job?" Alan responds with enthusiasm: "Yeah, I like my buff job," calling his manicure "great."

10:30 A.M.

Heidi is seated for her manicure. Alan is whisked away for a Euro Facial session with esthetician Bree Ray.

Jennifer goes to work on Heidi's hands, shaping the gel tips that Heidi has been applying for years. "She does a really good job on her nails," Jennifer says. "I'm just reshaping what she's done."

Heidi revels in the attention, commenting "I'm getting spoiled here. I'm going to start expecting it -- I feel like a star."

Meanwhile, in the dark, smoky depths of Bree's facial chamber, Alan is under the sway of relaxing music and a tubular steamer, which blows hot mist into his face to open his pores.

Bree uses Dermalogica products, including a corn-cob based exfoliant (which is gentler on the skin than say, an apricot scrub) to remove dead skin cells, and tone and improve Alan's facial texture.

11:30 A.M.

Musical chairs commence once again, as Heidi takes Alan's place in the facial universe and Alan takes his place -- dare we say it -- in the hairstylist's chair.

(Several decades pass here, as Alan is worked over by five or six women, who espouse the glorious benefits of a haircut.)

CIRCA, OH, ABOUT NOON-THIRTY

Sandy Olson, Alan's valiant and persuasive stylist, is working her mojo on Alan's head. Various people stop by routinely, to comment on how great Alan's haircut is looking.

Heidi has completed her skin-renewing session and is now getting partial highlights -- she appears ready to orbit the planet at any moment, courtesy of dozens of aluminum foil separators.

Alan and Heidi's clothing has arrived from Neiman Marcus and lunch is promptly being ordered to feed the masses.

BY 1:30 P.M.

Alan has been totally transformed -- appearance-wise -- and looks like a younger version of himself, with the updated haircut and colored whiskers. He's beaming at the numerous compliments and seems content that the haircut was the right decision.

All is well.

An enthused Alan begins to don his various outfits to much acclaim and photos are taken.

Meanwhile Heidi is in the hands of Diva Studio co-owner Lisa Shriver-Brooks, who is shaping Heidi's hair into a fashionable cut. Shortly after, stylist and makeup artist Sandy Olson, tackles Heidi's makeup application.

3:00 P.M.

Heidi begins her photo session, stunning all present with the ease at which she poses for her shots -- work it girl! Who knew Heidi was such the diva?

Various stylists gather around, excitedly chattering about the stylish clothing and shoes Heidi selected.

3:45 P.M.

Heidi is finished; clothing is packed up; more thanks and gratitude are in order; the day is done.

Vegas Makeover number one has been a huge success. On to the next candidate ...
